Best time to post on TikTok in 2027, Monday to Sunday (and how to find yours)
Sprout Social says Tuesday afternoon. Buffer says Sunday at 9 a.m. Here's the table to start with today and the test that makes TikTok Studio tell you your real time.
The best time to post on TikTok is a little before your audience opens the app, and TikTok Studio will show you exactly when that is. Need a starting point in the US? The window that keeps showing up in 2026 studies is Tuesday through Thursday, 2 to 6 p.m. local time, with 6 to 9 p.m. right behind it.
We compared four studies, read TikTok's help pages and asked ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini. Two of the three still tell you to get a "Pro account" you no longer need.
Here's the day-by-day table, where to find your exact peak and a four-week test to settle it with data, not vibes. If you're building your social media game plan, this fix costs you zero dollars.

When is the best time to post on TikTok? 4 recent studies
There's no magic hour: four recent studies on the best times to post on TikTok give four answers, though weekday afternoons show up in most.
The best time to post on TikTok is the window when your most likely viewers are on the app and ready to give your video its first push. It depends on your audience, their time zone and the day of the week, and TikTok Studio shows it to you from your own data.
What it isn't: the hour when the whole app is busiest, since that's when the most videos fight for the same spot in For You. And it won't rescue a video people swipe past in two seconds.
| Study | Sample | Its best time |
|---|---|---|
| Sprout Social (March 2026) | About 2 billion engagements across 307,000 profiles | Tuesday to Thursday, 2 to 6 p.m.; Sunday is the worst day |
| Buffer (September 2026) | 7.1 million posts | Sunday at 9 a.m.; Saturday is the best day |
| Hootsuite (November 2025) | 1 million+ posts from 118 countries | Thursday 6 to 9 a.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. |
| Metricool (May 2026) | 2.3 million posts from 92,000 accounts | 6 to 9 p.m., with 8 p.m. on top |
They disagree because they measure different things across accounts worldwide. Sprout Social's TikTok study and Hootsuite both use each audience's local time, so their 3 p.m. is 3 p.m. wherever your viewers live.
Best time to post on TikTok by day, Monday to Sunday
No data of your own yet? Start with this table, which crosses the two 2026 studies that give times for every day: Sprout Social and Buffer.
The last column is our pick for your first week, where the two studies get closest. So if you want the best time to post on TikTok on Monday, start at 1 p.m. or 4 p.m. It's a hypothesis to test, not gospel.
| Day | Sprout Social | Buffer | Your first test |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | 3 to 5 p.m. | 1 p.m. (or 11 a.m. and 8 a.m.) | 1 p.m. or 4 p.m. |
| Tuesday | 2 to 6 p.m. | 6 a.m. (or 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.) | 3 p.m. or 10 p.m. |
| Wednesday | 1 to 8 p.m. | 10 p.m. (or 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.) | 3 p.m. or 9 p.m. |
| Thursday | 1 to 5 p.m. | 1 p.m. (or 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.) | 1 p.m. |
| Friday | 3 to 5 p.m. | 6 p.m. (or 10 p.m. and 8 p.m.) | 5 to 6 p.m. |
| Saturday | Avoid | 5 p.m. (or 4 p.m. and 3 p.m.) | 3 to 5 p.m. |
| Sunday | Avoid | 9 a.m. (or 1 p.m. and noon) | 9 a.m. or 1 p.m. |
The best day to post on TikTok? Sprout Social says Tuesday to Thursday; Buffer says Saturday. Your chart breaks the tie.
What's the best time to post on TikTok on Saturday?
Mid to late afternoon: Buffer's top Saturday slots are 5, 4 and 3 p.m. Sprout Social says to avoid Saturday, so treat it as a test.
What's the best time to post on TikTok on Sunday?
9 a.m., Buffer's best slot of the whole week. Sprout Social calls Sunday the worst day, so if your crowd has lazy Sunday mornings, test it.
What's the best time to post on TikTok today?
Find today's row and aim for the start of that window. Running late? Schedule it for the next slot instead of rushing it out.
Best day to post on TikTok: what each study says
The best day to post on TikTok depends on who you ask: Sprout Social points to Tuesday through Thursday, and Buffer to Saturday. Hootsuite sits in the middle, with one slot on Thursday morning and another on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
| Sprout Social (March 2026) | Buffer (September 2026) | |
|---|---|---|
| Best days | Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday ("peak") | Saturday, then Monday, with Sunday close behind |
| Good days | Monday and Friday | Not ranked |
| Weak days | Saturday and Sunday, with Sunday the worst | Not stated |
They clash because they measure different things: Sprout looks at engagements on 307,000 profiles, and Buffer at 7.1 million posts.
Our call: don't crown a winner, pick two days to test. Take Wednesday, which has Sprout's widest window (1 to 8 p.m.), and Saturday. Post the same kind of video at the same hour on both for four weeks, then compare medians, as in the test at the end of this guide.
How to see TikTok analytics and find your best time
Your real best time lives in TikTok analytics inside TikTok Studio: any account with one public post can see it, and audience data unlocks at 100 followers.
Forget the "Pro account." Per TikTok's Help Center, checked late October 2026, regular accounts get analytics in TikTok Studio.
-
Turn analytics on
Open Analytics in the app and turn it on. TikTok only tracks videos you post after that.
-
Open TikTok Studio
On your profile, tap the three-line menu and pick TikTok Studio. It also comes as its own app and on desktop.
-
Tap View all under Analytics
You'll see the Overview, Content, Viewers and Followers tabs, with date ranges of 7, 28, 60 or 365 days.
-
Check activity in Followers
See when your followers are on the app by hour and day, plus their top locations, in your local time zone.
-
Compare with Most active times in Viewers
This covers everyone who watched you over the last 7 days, per TikTok Creator Academy (updated October 13, 2026).
-
Post a little before the peak
Note the two highest hours for each day and post 30 to 60 minutes earlier, which is what most scheduling tools recommend.
-
Check again every week
Viewers only covers 7 days, so look again every Monday during your test and after any holiday weekend.
TikTok algorithm: does posting time matter?
It matters for the launch: TikTok lists time zone and date among its signals, but how people react to your video carries the most weight.
TikTok spells it out in how TikTok recommends content. The TikTok algorithm looks at what you do (what you watch to the end, skip, share or comment on), information about the video and user information, which includes time zone and date. For most people, interactions outweigh the rest.
In plain English: posting at a good time puts your video in front of people who are awake, and that first reaction decides whether it keeps rolling. You also lean on followers less than on Instagram: Metricool's 2026 TikTok study found 72.7% of views come from For You.
How long does it take for a TikTok to get views?
Longer than you'd think. Metricool found in 2026 that TikTok posts collect 96% of their reach within the first 10 days. For Instagram Reels, Metricool measured 70% within three days: TikTok is the longer race.
Also, TikTok's Help Center says analytics can take one to two days to update. So don't call a video dead at hour two. Judge it at day 7.
How to schedule TikTok posts in TikTok Studio
On desktop: upload in TikTok Studio, turn on scheduling and pick a date and time anywhere from 15 minutes to 30 days ahead.
That's straight from TikTok Creator Academy, updated July 6, 2026: the Post Scheduler is desktop-only. So yes, you can schedule TikTok posts natively.
- Open TikTok Studio in a desktop browser and click Upload.
- Upload and edit your video and write the caption.
- Turn on the schedule option and pick the date and time, which use your computer's time zone.
- Click Schedule.
One catch: TikTok's Help Center page on scheduling still says 10 days max and business accounts or 10,000+ followers. If you don't see the toggle, that's the likely reason. And scheduled posts can't be edited, only deleted and re-uploaded.
Best time to go live on TikTok
TikTok doesn't publish a best time to go LIVE, and the studies above measure posts, not LIVEs. What TikTok's Creator Academy says (updated August 18, 2026) is to pick a time that works for your audience and think about when they're most active. That's the Followers tab in TikTok Studio, the same chart you use for videos.
Then make the time official with LIVE Events:
- Tap the LIVE Events icon on your profile page and add a name, start time, description and image. TikTok reviews the event before it goes public.
- Promote it with a video. On the event page, tap the plus under Related videos and add the event link, so people can find it in For You.
- Start within 10 minutes of the scheduled time. People who signed up get a push notification.
- Keep the date. If you miss your own events several times, TikTok may restrict the feature.
On length, TikTok says LIVEs of 60 to 80 minutes tend to get more views than 10 to 20 minute ones. Post a video right before going LIVE too, so viewers can join from the For You feed.
Best time to post on TikTok EST, CST and PST
Post on your audience's clock: Sprout Social and Hootsuite use local time, so 3 p.m. means 3 p.m. where most of your viewers live.
| Eastern (ET) | Central (CT) | Mountain (MT) | Pacific (PT) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 p.m. | Noon | 11 a.m. | 10 a.m. |
| 3 p.m. | 2 p.m. | 1 p.m. | Noon |
| 5 p.m. | 4 p.m. | 3 p.m. | 2 p.m. |
| 8 p.m. | 7 p.m. | 6 p.m. | 5 p.m. |
Split between coasts? On Tuesday (Sprout Social: 2 to 6 p.m.), 5 p.m. ET is 2 p.m. PT, so both land inside the window. With TikTok Studio, skip the math: per TikTok, your followers' activity is already shown in your local time, and the scheduler uses your computer's time zone. The rest of your analytics runs on UTC. Daylight saving time ends Sunday, November 1, 2026; most of Arizona and all of Hawaii stay put.
How to test your timing with a TikTok engagement rate calculator
Pick two time slots, post the same kind of video in both for four weeks and compare every video at day 7.
Change only the time, post at least four videos per slot and use the median, so one runaway hit doesn't fool you.
Here's a made-up example with realistic numbers: a boutique fitness studio in Denver with 6,200 followers tests two slots.
| Tue and Thu at noon MT | Tue and Thu at 7 p.m. MT | |
|---|---|---|
| Videos posted | 4 | 4 |
| Median views at day 7 | 2,400 | 3,500 |
| Watched full video (median) | 16% | 22% |
| Median interactions | 118 | 189 |
| Engagement rate by views | 4.9% | 5.4% |
Evenings win. A gap of a few tenths? Run another week. Do the math on each video with our engagement rate calculator: pick TikTok, plug in interactions, followers and views, and get both rates.
Act as a TikTok analyst. Here are my videos from the last 4 weeks with day, posting time, views at day 7, percentage who watched the full video and interactions: [paste your data here]. Most of my audience is in [city or time zone]. Group the videos by time slot, calculate the median for each, tell me which slot wins, whether I need more videos and whether any video is an outlier skewing the result.

Frequently asked questions about the best time to post on TikTok
How often should I post on TikTok?
Two to five times a week is the sweet spot for most accounts. Buffer analyzed 11.4 million TikTok posts from more than 150,000 accounts and found that going from one post a week to two to five lifts views per post by up to 17%. Six to 10 posts a week reached up to 29%, and 11 or more up to 34%, so the gains flatten fast. Pick a pace you can keep for months.
Why does my TikTok have 0 views?
Usually because the numbers haven't caught up yet. TikTok's Help Center says analytics can take one to two days to update, and only cover videos posted after you turned analytics on. If a video stays at zero, check that your account and the post are public. TikTok also says it doesn't recommend content in For You that doesn't meet its For You eligibility standards, so review the Community Guidelines.
Is 20,000 views considered viral on TikTok?
There's no official threshold, so judge it against your own numbers. Buffer's 2026 benchmarks put the median TikTok post at roughly 500 views, which makes 20,000 about 40 times a typical post. If your median is 300 views, that's a real breakout: check its retention curve and traffic sources in TikTok Studio. If you usually pull 50,000, it's a quiet day.
What is the 3 second rule on TikTok?
It's creator shorthand for grabbing attention right away, because people swipe fast. TikTok doesn't publish a three-second cutoff for creators, but its creative best practices for ads say to introduce your proposition in the first 3 seconds and land your hook within the first 6. In practice: open with the result, the question or the movement, and check your retention chart in TikTok Studio to see the exact second people leave.
What is the golden hour to post on TikTok?
It's creator slang for the first hour after posting, when early reactions supposedly decide a video's fate. TikTok doesn't use the term. What it does say is that interactions such as watch time, shares and comments carry the most weight in For You. So use that first hour to reply to comments and pin a good one, but don't read it as a verdict: TikTok videos keep picking up reach for days.
What is TikTok Studio?
TikTok Studio is TikTok's hub for creators: analytics, uploading and editing, comment management and monetization in one place. It's a standalone app on Google Play and the App Store, it's also inside the TikTok app under the menu on your profile, and there's a desktop web version. You sign in with your regular TikTok account. Per TikTok's Help Center, some features are limited to users 18 and older.
